Canvas Banner With Grommets
A grommet is a metal ring inserted into a hole through vinyl material, collared on each side to keep them in place. They are used to prevent tearing or abrasion of material from the support line being routed through the penetration.Grommets are small metal rings that are typically used in signage including vinyl, fabric, and canvas banners, rigid plastic signs and corrugated plastic yard signs.
You’ll often see them in drapes and curtains in various shapes and forms. The purpose of a grommet is to provide a reinforced hole through which something passes to support the banner. The reinforced hole ensures that he printed banner can be hung and displayed for long periods without tearing the vinyl banner itself.
Grommets Enhance Your Banner Installations
Grommets are punched through the banner material using a precision grommet machine to create an installation hole. Each grommet grips the vinyl securely and helps prevent the holes from spreading or tearing the banner edges off.
We install each grommet approximately 1 inch off from the edge (to the center of the grommet). This makes for a smooth and uniform installation and allows for hassle-free installs on same size backing substrates such as plywood or corrugated plastic The 1” offset spacing gives the grommets the right amount of material to grab on to, making the bond stronger and less likely to be torn out under stress.
We highly recommend selecting the ‘Hemmed Edges’ option if you intend to install your banners outdoors. Hemmed edges reinforce the entire sign and give each grommet a double thick layer of vinyl to bite into, creating the strongest grommet hole possible in every banner for every installation.
We would be happy to customize a grommet pattern to suit your specific needs and will gladly install up to 8 grommets per banner at no additional charge. If you require a higher level of grommet customization, please contact Us for to discuss how we can print your project to life.
