The domestic Cat is Usually found in houses as a pet that why called as House Cat. They are the most famous pet among all pets. People investing more than $200 million per year for this varieties. There are total more than  33 different breeds of the Domestic Cats are present nearer to us.


Body Features

The Domestic Cat’s length ranges from 18 to 30  inches and weighs about 6 to 18 pounds. The Domestic Cat has hairs in Wild Type and furry coat on the body followed by soft, long or short hairs.

The Domestic Cat has different colors such as color of orange, tan or gray, black or white, but human breeding has produced many other coat patterns. 

The Domestic Cat has  excellent sight, can see in daylight and as well as in dark nights, a sense of smell and sharp hearing. The reflective layer in the retina enhances their night vision, and the pupils are vertical, typical of nocturnal animals. They can hear sounds well above the limit of human hearing.

The cats,being Domestic or Feral, are carnivores and great hunters. They prey on small mammals and birds, including mice, rats, squirrels, gophers, moles, shrews, hares and rabbits. As for birds, they prefer sparrows, robins, doves, and ground nesting birds. Cats can also eat some sort of  grass and other vegetation in their diet. They can eat fishes, insects and domestic chickens may also be taken.They can eat food provided by the owners.

Both teeth and claws are adapted for hunting. Long sharp canines and knife-edged cheek teeth make them formidable predators. The claws are retractable.

The Domestic Cats are fast and agile and can make quick  jumps many times their body length. The Tail is used to keep balance during jumps.




House cats may be more active in the morning and evening, as a response to greater human activity at these times.  Although they spend the majority of their time in the area  of their home.  Cats are active both day and night, although they tend to be slightly more active at night.

The daily duration of sleep varies, usually between 12 and 15 hours followed by short periods of rapid eye movement sleep often accompanied by muscle contraction, which suggests they are dreaming.



The Domestic Cat Name had  arisen From African and European Wild cats,  8 to 10 million years ago within the cat branch of the Carnivores.  African wild cats resemble domestic tabbies.

The Domestic cats were first documented 3-4000 years ago in Egypt, where they may have been attracted to human agricultural settlements by the ready supply of rodents gathered around stored grains and other crops.



Worldwide and Everywhere, mostly associated with human dwellings. They are feral population due to irresponsibility of human being and carelessness. They can live on the highest mountains and in the hottest deserts, too.

Feral cats live  in forests, grasslands, tundra, coastal areas, agricultural land, scrub lands, urban areas, and wetlands. habitats also  include small oceanic islands with no human inhabitants.





During The Mating Time, domestic and feral cats engage in a vociferous courtship and mating, after which the male and female separate. Gestation period  is 8-10  weeks, and 1-8  baby cat  may be produced.

The kittens have hair, but their eyes open after 1st  weeks, at which time they also begin to walk. They are weaned at about 10 weeks, can fend for themselves by about 6 months, and got to reach sexual maturity at about 10 months.

The ecological dangers are so critical that the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists domestic cats as one of the world’s worst non-native invasive species. Each year, hundreds of thousands of unwanted or abandoned cats are euthanized  in the United States alone.

Because humans are also irresponsible in their keeping of pets and do not spay and neuter, the number of unwanted kittens is astronomical, adding to the numbers of euthanized animals each year.

In the conservation we  rescues and shelters about 200 centers allowing them to create the best content possible in order to help these animals that only ask for the Right person to adopt them.
